Yesterday's doctor appointment at UCSF let us know that there will in fact be another treatment happening in the very near future.

Radiation followed by a more aggressive chemotherapy (than my last one) would be the next step, but there is a clinical trial opening next month that is recommended for me. So, I'll very likely begin the experimental drug (in Phase II) in January or February, and see if it works. What do I have to lose?

The drug works by inhibiting the IDH mutation, which I do have (and this is a good mutation to have). The IDH mutation is believed to allow the duplication of cancer cells. So-- by inhibiting the mutation, it will hopefully inhibit the cancer cell growth. My oncologist isn't sure if the drug will shrink the tumor, or just keep it from growing, or maybe do nothing at all - but it's worth a try.

Seems like anytime I have an expectation, things go the other direction. This clinical trial certainly isn't a bad thing, it could be really beneficial, but I was hoping to leave my body alone for awhile, and let her continue to heal and get stronger from all my previous treatments.
